Project details

The project I have undertaken is to investigate the effect of high pressure on the structures of complexes used in metal extraction utilising X-ray and Neutron crystallography and techniques to model molecular energies utilising IMPT, DFT and PIXEL calculations. The aim of the project is to determine whether pressure can be used to tune the selectivity of ligands towards specific metal ions. The work programme consists of determining the crystal structures of ligands and their metal complexes as a function of pressure.
