Cameron's first primary author paper has been published. The publication describes the CellVol code which he wrote in the first year of his PhD and gives some examples of it's applications for high pressure crystal structures. The paper can be found at:

Behavior of Occupied and Void Space in Molecular Crystal Structures at High Pressure. Cryst. Growth Des. 2022, 22, 2328−2341

and the code can be accessed free of charge from:

A new paper by Guilia Novelli  on "Effect of High Pressure on the Crystal Structures of Polymorphs of l-Histidine" has been published in Crystal Growth & Design. The effect of pressure on the crystal structures of the two ambient-pressure polymorphs of the amino acid l-histidine has been investigated. Single-crystal diffraction measurements, up to 6.60 GPa for the orthorhombic form I (P212121) and 6.85 GPa for the monoclinic form II (P21), show their crystal structures undergo isosymmetric single-crystal-to-single-crystal first-order phase transitions at 4.5 and 3.1 GPa to forms I′ and II′, respectively.

A new paper by Simon Parsons on "Single‐Crystal X‐Ray Diffraction Study of Pressure and Temperature‐Induced Spin Trapping in a Bistable Iron(II) Hofmann Framework" has been published in Angewandte Chemie. High‐pressure single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction has been used to trap both the low‐spin (LS) and high‐spin (HS) states of the iron(II) Hofmann spin crossover framework, [FeII(pdm)(H2O)[Ag(CN)2]2⋅H2O, under identical experimental conditions, allowing the structural changes arising from the spin‐transition to be deconvoluted from previously reported thermal effects.

A new paper by Nico Giordano on "High-pressure polymorphism in Pyridine" has been published in IUCRj.  The sequence of phases I→II→III has never been observed at high pressure in a single sample. Phases II and III can both be accessed reproducibly by crystal growth directly from the liquid phase. Phase II can also be accessed by decompression of phase III or from decompression of a pressure-amorphized sample.

A new paper by Edward Broadhurst on "Polymorph evolution during crystal growth studied by 3D electron diffraction" has been published in IUCRj. The work aims to highlight the powerful technique of combining 3D electron diffraction (3DED) with cryoTEM to studydynamic systems in situ. The present methods show that it can be applied to study dynamical chemical processes. Here we have focused on polymorphism, but the same methods might also be applicable to reaction mixtures.

A new paper by Matt Reeves on "Automated oxidation-state assignment for metal sites in coordination complexes in the Cambridge Structural Database" has been published in Acta Crystallographica Section B. It's hoped that the methods disccused will be employed to improve entries in the CSD, while an additional script (MRMOX) is available which can be employed through Mercury on user structures.
