Giulia was a PhD joint-student between the ANSTO facility in Sydney, Australia, and the University of Edinburgh. The aims of her project are to use high-pressure, single-crystal neutron diffraction to study the structural and energetic relationships in two ambient polymorphs of the amino acid histidine, and the determination of a PVT equation of state of the models hexmethylenetetramine and naphthalene which will allow an understanding of how mechanical properties and thermodynamics of these materials develop in the space environment.

Giulia now works for GSK within crystallography at their Stevenage site.
